Model Train Exhibit

Scenes from McPherson are being replicated in the Mid-Kansas Model Railroad layout. Iconic buildings from the past have been painstakingly produced in HO format to provide a background to the trains that travel around the track.

The four branches of railroads that have served McPherson are displayed – The Rock Island, Union Pacific, Santa Fe, and Missouri Pacific. Push the buttons that are located around the layout and listen and watch what happens. Oils derricks move, lights flash and sirens sound at the fire station, and music from the bagpipers plays.

As the trains make their way around the track take time to check out all of the details. You will see the sparks in the welding shop, the crossing arms light up and coming down at the crossings, and lights on the towers flashing. People, dogs, birds, and other animals can be found throughout the scenes.

The MKMR Club continues to add to the layout so it is ever-changing meaning you will see something new with each visit.
