The McPherson County Historical Society presents “Maxwell Wildlife​ Refuge” by Betty Redden

Betty, a lifelong resident of Kansas residing primarily in Saline and McPherson Counties spent 20 years as a licensed investment representative in Salina while ranching and farming near Roxbury, Kansas. She became involved with Maxwell in 2002 as a part-time volunteer with The Friends of Maxwell turning full time as Director in 2013 working with KDWPT conducting prairie tours, trail rides, and events for the refuge and managing 20+ volunteers that are associated with our non-profit organization. The mission of this group is to promote prairie stewardship by providing interpretive and educational opportunities that emphasize the Kansas Prairie’s natural, cultural and historical resources.

The refuge is home to 200 Bison and over 90 Elk.

All historical society programs are open to the public and are free of charge.

Maxwell Wildlife Refuge
