The McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation’s annual Christmas Tour of Homes takes place Saturday, December 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. In addition to the private homes on the tour, the Museum’s anniversary quilt, celebrating 150 years of statehood by Kansas, will be on display in the model residential room at Sterling House, 1460 North Main. The commemorative quilt was unveiled in January of this year and is displayed on a limited basis. Sterling House will be serving refreshments.
Homes on tour include:
Bruce & Linda Owens: The Owens’ home at 1637 Suncrest Drive is a Spanish style home located on a corner lot. The home has been transformed for Christmas in a magnificent manner with twinkling lights, bows and poinsettias. The dining room table has been decorated for the holidays with Mrs. Owens’ favorite dinnerware.
Todd & Misty Wann: This immaculate home is at 523 East Euclid. The Wanns enjoy their open-concept kitchen and dining room and have decorated for the holidays with their young adult lifestyle in mind. This family-friendly home is not to be missed with its up-to-date color palette, furnishings and holiday charm.
Gregg & Judy Stockstill: Gregg & Judy Stockstill moved into their new country home at 1050 15th Avenue in April of this year. The outdoor stone fireplace, the cathedral ceiling with wood beams and the panoramic view from the multitude of windows add to the grand setting of this newly constructed home. Although the home is not in the city limits, it is easily found, just one half mile off of Frontier Road.
Jerry & Carla Barber: The Barbers reside in the Prairie-style home at 1107 East Kansas Avenue which currently resembles the scene from “Money Pit”, the 1986 movie starring Tom Hanks. This is because it is right next door to the new location of the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation facility. The tour will include visiting this magical home with its whimsical staircase as well as a site tour of the construction currently on-going.
Tickets for this event may be purchased at any of the four homes the day of the event, or in advance at The Bookshelf & Hidden Closet; the office of Siri D. Harrell, CPA; at Sterling House by contacting Cathy Haworth; or by calling the museum at 241-8464. The cost of all 4 homes is $15. The event is an annual fundraiser for the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation.
Directions to Stockstill home: Travel south on Main Street, McPherson past NCRA. You will drive under the Hwy 61 overpass to Frontier Road. Turn left (east) on Frontier road for 1 mile. Turn south (right) onto 15th Avenue ½ mile. You will see a mailbox with flowers on it and our Tour of Homes welcome sign.
